In Traverse City, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Michigan vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. I couldn’t be more impressed with this shop. I was out of town when I had an issue with my car, and they were kind enough to get me in last minute. They took the time to walk me through everything, explained the repairs clearly, and got the car taken care of quickly. Everyone I dealt with was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. It’s hard to find a shop you can genuinely trust, and I’m very glad I found this one. I highly recommend them!

Our daughter’s car broke down while she was in Traverse City for school, the day before Christmas break. The car needed to be towed, and Hamlet’s was able to get it in and repaired the very same day. We are so grateful for the outstanding customer service and care they provided. Living four hours away, it can be stressful knowing who to trust, but Hamlet’s made the entire process easy and reassuring. They are definitely a great shop we would recommend.

They are amazing. I was on vacation and my car had problems. They got me in on a Saturday and fixed the problem same day. They are good people and they do great work. Could not say enough about them. Businesses talk about going the extra mile for the customers, but these people actually do it.

This is an unusually good business--even more so given issues I have had with other repair places. One I've used in the past was about as much fun as falling off a Cliff: I had to book 10 days in advance and the visit always started with an 80 inspection fee before fixing anything. Hamlet's, on the other hand, is remarkably good. I sometimes get in immediately, but it's usually less than 3 or 4 days. They've done quit a bit of work for me on several vehicles. One time I removed a snow plow from a truck and the lights didn't work, so I took it in and they charged me 30 bucks where I was expecting a minimum charge of 80-125. They've always fixed everything a bit cheaper than I was expecting. They fix flats right away too. One time they said I'd be better off having a dealer check the error code because they weren't sure they could do the work. Another time I took a truck in for a brake job and they said I didn't need brakes and showed me why. Very honest folks. Good prices. Fast service. My first choice for auto repair of any kind.
